I simply refuse. Instead, I offer you this: <em data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"474\">Drink, and ye shall be free.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"476\" data-end=\"479\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"481\" data-end=\"539\"><strong data-start=\"485\" data-end=\"539\">1) Boulevardier (January\u2013March + October\u2013December)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"541\" data-end=\"919\">If there\u2019s one drink I kept coming back to this year (especially during the colder months), it\u2019s the Boulevardier. It\u2019s the cocktail I\u2019ve experimented with the most \u2013 or rather, <em data-start=\"719\" data-end=\"731\">my husband<\/em> has experimented with the most. I just drink the results. And good grief, when it\u2019s good, it\u2019s <strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"835\">good<\/strong>. Imagine a Negroni with a little less bitterness and a lot more flavour. Yum yum.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"1072\"><strong data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"937\">Ingredients:<\/strong><br data-start=\"937\" data-end=\"940\" \/>\u2022 3 cl bourbon or rye whiskey (traditionally bourbon)<br data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"996\" \/>\u2022 3 cl sweet vermouth<br data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1020\" \/>\u2022 3 cl Campari<br data-start=\"1034\" data-end=\"1037\" \/>\u2022 Ice<br data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1045\" \/>\u2022 Orange slice to garnish<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1087\"><strong data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1085\">Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1088\" data-end=\"1379\">\n<li data-start=\"1088\" data-end=\"1147\">\n<p data-start=\"1091\" data-end=\"1147\">Stir together the bourbon, sweet vermouth and Campari.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1217\">\n<p data-start=\"1151\" data-end=\"1217\">Shake or stir with ice for 20\u201330 seconds until properly chilled.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1290\">\n<p data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1290\">Strain into a short, wide glass over a large cube or sphere of ice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1379\">\n<p data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1379\">Feeling fancy? In reality\u2026 I managed maybe three. I\u2019m tragically bad at drinking spirits in any sort of quantity, but the few Juleps that did make it into my system were divine. The hotter and more unbearable the weather, the better this drink tastes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1749\" data-end=\"2018\"><strong data-start=\"1749\" data-end=\"1765\">Ingredients:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1765\" data-end=\"1768\" \/>\u2022 Fresh mint leaves<br data-start=\"1787\" data-end=\"1790\" \/>\u2022 1 teaspoon sugar (or 1 cl sugar syrup)<br data-start=\"1830\" data-end=\"1833\" \/>\u2022 6 cl bourbon<br data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"1850\" \/>\u2022 Ice (traditionalists insist on crushed ice, but honestly, who has the energy? Use whatever you\u2019ve got \u2013 I like one big ice sphere.)<br data-start=\"1983\" data-end=\"1986\" \/>\u2022 Extra mint sprig for garnish<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2020\" data-end=\"2033\"><strong data-start=\"2020\" data-end=\"2031\">Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"2034\" data-end=\"2373\">\n<li data-start=\"2034\" data-end=\"2084\">\n<p data-start=\"2037\" data-end=\"2084\">Add the mint and sugar (or syrup) to a glass.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2085\" data-end=\"2237\">\n<p data-start=\"2088\" data-end=\"2237\">Muddle <em data-start=\"2095\" data-end=\"2103\">gently<\/em> \u2013 just enough to release the oils without shredding the leaves. I usually press down a few times with the handle of a wooden spoon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2238\" data-end=\"2267\">\n<p data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2267\">Fill the glass with ice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2268\" data-end=\"2319\">\n<p data-start=\"2271\" data-end=\"2319\">Pour over the bourbon and give it a good stir.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2320\" data-end=\"2373\">\n<p data-start=\"2323\" data-end=\"2373\">Feeling fancy? Garnish with a generous mint sprig.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr data-start=\"2375\" data-end=\"2378\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"2380\" data-end=\"2445\"><strong data-start=\"2384\" data-end=\"2445\">3) Rhubarb &amp; Red Wine Cobbler (All Other Months + Cameos)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2447\" data-end=\"2981\">This, my friends, is the drink I didn\u2019t know I needed. Cool, fruity, slightly tart \u2014 a little summer sweetie that makes me feel like a 19th-century lady on a Charleston porch, minus the corset and plus the mental instability. It is <em data-start=\"2679\" data-end=\"2693\">ridiculously<\/em> good. Rhubarb + red wine is a combination I never expected to work, but it does \u2014 spectacularly. It soars, swoops and lands on your tastebuds like a bloody acrobat. This is a \u201cwhy on earth aren\u2019t more people drinking this?\u201d cocktail that ought to be compulsory from April to September.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2983\" data-end=\"3343\"><strong data-start=\"2983\" data-end=\"2999\">Ingredients:<\/strong><br data-start=\"2999\" data-end=\"3002\" \/>\u2022 4 cl red wine (I wish I could tell you which one, but Christian used whatever was open and slowly dying in the fridge because we drink too little)<br data-start=\"3150\" data-end=\"3153\" \/>\u2022 2 cl ruby port<br data-start=\"3169\" data-end=\"3172\" \/>\u2022 3 cl rhubarb syrup (Christian makes his own; buy it if you don\u2019t have your own personal Christian)<br data-start=\"3272\" data-end=\"3275\" \/>\u2022 2 cl lemon juice<br data-start=\"3293\" data-end=\"3296\" \/>\u2022 Ice<br data-start=\"3301\" data-end=\"3304\" \/>\u2022 Sliced rhubarb or lemon for garnish<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3345\" data-end=\"3358\"><strong data-start=\"3345\" data-end=\"3356\">Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"3359\" data-end=\"3601\">\n<li data-start=\"3359\" data-end=\"3427\">\n<p data-start=\"3362\" data-end=\"3427\">Pour the red wine, rhubarb syrup and lemon juice into a shaker.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3428\" data-end=\"3503\">\n<p data-start=\"3431\" data-end=\"3503\">Add ice and shake until you feel like the bartender in <em data-start=\"3486\" data-end=\"3500\">Moulin Rouge<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3504\" data-end=\"3601\">\n<p data-start=\"3507\" data-end=\"3601\">Strain into a glass filled with crushed ice or regular cubes.
